How To Write A Medical Transcription Cover Letter?

When looking for a medical transcription job online most employers do not require a cover letter, but it is always good to have one in case they do. In my experience, when I was filling out medical transcription online applications they usually had a spot to upload just your resume and not a cover letter, but I have applied to some medical transcription companies online where they have a space for both a cover letter and resume to be uploaded. If you are sending a resume to a person via e-mail I would recommend sending them both a cover letter and resume.

A cover letter is used to tell the employer why you want the medical transcription job. While your cover letter acts as an introduction, it can also take your resume information one step further by showing an employer how your history and past achievements can be applied to meet the needs, concerns, and goals of the company you are targeting. In this way, your cover letter not only confirms your qualifications for the position, but also indicates that you are the right person for this company.

Here are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind when writing your medical transcription cover letter:

Opening paragraph - Why you are writing; how you learned of the position, and basic information about yourself.
Second paragraph - What you have to offer. So briefly state two or three top skills (from the Summary section of your resume), then immediately follow with the benefits that you can provide to the company.
Conclusion paragraph - Indicate that you would like the opportunity to talk with the employer to learn more about their opportunities or hiring plans. State what you will do to follow up, such as telephone the employer within two weeks. State that you would be glad to provide the employer with any additional information needed. Thank the employer for her/his consideration.

Proofread: Remember to make sure to check and recheck the cover letter for grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well.
